HALTism and More Therapy is an exceptional organisation that builds her team on love, shared values and transferring these to the children and young individuals on the autism spectrum that we work with.
With over 16 years of experience on the field and continuous learning, we work with tenets of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) as we draw up Individualized Educational Programmes (IEP) that best suits our service users into living independently and achieving quality of life.
Approach
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
ABA therapy is used to determine the causes of an individual’s behavioral challenges and uses specific strategies to help reduce these challenges. We use ABA therapy in different settings, such as schools, hospitals, clinics, and homes.
Applied Behaviour Analysis focuses on functional communication, social skills and related life skills. At HALTism and More Therapy we offer modern and progressive ABA services that incorporate the Verbal Behaviour Approach, PBS and current best practice in ABA research.
Positive Behaviour Support
Our Positive Behaviour Support Programmes are designed to understand and address a child’s challenging behaviours. We support children and adolescents of all ages.
Challenges we help with
We fully understand that challenging behaviours are often a source of frustration, and emotional distress for both the child and their parents. Our ultimate focus is to develop proactive strategies that promote and sustain positive behaviours and reduce challenging behaviours. We design programmes to address behaviours including:
- Aggression, such as hitting, kicking or biting.
- Self injurious behaviours including head-banging, scratching, or biting.
- Damaging property, including furniture or personal belongings.
- Non-compliance with parental or teacher requests or instructions.
- Escape or wandering, potentially putting themselves at risk.
- Social avoidance and limited social interactions.
Other challenges include attention-seeking disruptive behaviours, difficulties with personal hygiene and communication challenges.
